Energy design + sustainability
Importance and intention
More than a third of energy provided to end users in Germany is used to supply buildings. In addition, purchasing costs for fossil energy media will only rise further in future, and we have not even mentioned their negative influence on our carbon footprint. We consider fulfilling the technical requirements of a building in as energy-efficient a way possible a fundamental goal of planning. Through the interdisciplinary approaches of overall technical planning, we can create synergies already in the energy concept. In “heat displacement”, for example, internal IT loads in winter are gathered by heat pump and used to control the building temperature.
Requirements and quality
The energy concept for a building must be tailored to its size, location, usage and local limiting conditions. The planned technology must be easy to manage and as sustainable as possible. The concept should involve all disciplines and develop solutions through the combination of construction and technology.
Evaluation
Fundamentally, the added investment in energy-saving systems must be justified based on its efficiency. For more extensive solutions, life cycle cost analyses are appropriate, letting you consider the value created by the planned technology over the entire life cycle. Increasingly, whole buildings are subjected to certification (such as LEED or DGNB). Here, alongside sustainability and efficiency, many other factors are also considered. A smart energy concept has many advantages here!
Implementation and proof of concept
The final proof of concept is provided by the installed technology in operation. Real energy consumption is recorded by monitoring and compared with the forecast values in the plan. In the initial adjustment phase, processes can be targeted for optimisation or user behaviour altered.
BIM at SÜSS
Building Information Modelling
One of our strengths is the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in BSE planning and the accompanying collaboration with our planning partners. As one of the leading experts in this field, we have extensive experience and deep knowledge, making us a reliable partner in the planning field. Thanks to our decades of expertise and international branches, we are able to integrate global perspectives seamlessly and fulfil local requirements. In our BIM methodology, we place the focus on various aspects, such as the integration of the information model in our planning processes, the implementation of sector-specific standards and optimisation of work processes.
Open exchange
With the aid of various software solutions, we generate the technically demanding 3D models that are essential to the BIM process. We rely on automation techniques in order to facilitate repeat tasks and train our employees in how to use the latest BIM strategies. Our collaborative methods are marked by authenticity, pragmatism and transparency. We are convinced that mutual trust and the open exchange of ideas and information provide the best results, and continuously reflect our activities through the medium of our BIM methodology.
Light planning
Light is more than lux and lumens, it makes spaces and architectures tangible. We understand ourselves as the connecting rod between architecture and electrical planning. With our team of light planners from the fields of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and electrical technology, our focus is on the seamless integration of light and architectural form. In this, understanding spatial relationships and atmospheres is of paramount importance. Aesthetic light solutions that meld with the overall architectural concept without appearing overdone, while also being sustainable and designed on a human scale, are what we strive for and are motivated to achieve.
